"Life is too short to wake up in the morning with regrets. So, love the people that treat you right and forget the ones who don't. And believe that everything happens for a reason... If you get a chance.. take it, if it changes your life.. let it. Nobody said that it would be easy, They just promised it'd be worth it." I've Never been so Happy it Made me Cry

So I wasn't supposed to come home to Florida until Thomas flew up the night of Friday, December 2nd and we'd leave at 1-2 am that Sunday. But after a big blow up fight with my grandma I decided to go home. Don't worry we made up and left on really good terms, I'm glad because I would've felt this whole two months was a waste, if I didn't leave Indiana with the great relationship between us I've gained this two months. And I would've been really sad the whole way home. But my bags we're packed and in my car (and if you know how much stuff I brought with me & acquired awhile I was there you'd understand that was no simple task.. ecspecially in my two door small mustang coupe), and I was just really homesick. The only thing keeping me from leaving was the fact that Thomas had a plane ticket up there and it wouldn't be refunded... But he said he's spent that same amount of money or more on stupid things, and to just come home. So I didn't get out of there until about 4 pm, but I like driving at night anyways. At about 10-10:30 pm I got to right before Chattanooga where you can either go straight down into Georgia like I normally do, or down into Alabama... So I had a choice, get home tonight around 4-5 am or take a little extra time and go see Thomas' sister, Emily.

A little backstory: Emily and I hadn't talked for awhile after the blowup in May, but the worst is that neither had her and Thomas. She hadn't written me an apology letter a couple days after they had left our house, but it happened to be the day I found out my grandpa had died, and was not in the mood to write her back.. Well things happened and I forget to do stuff, and I hadn't written her back until I had been up in Indiana. What I got back wasn't the best reply, but I could tell it was hurting her, that her brother hadn't talked to her in so long, so I didn't take too much offense to it. Well she wrote me another message after a trip to Hawaii to see her and Thomas' oldest brother Nate, and it was alot more of a message I was hoping for. Even though Thomas' wasn't quite ready to talk, I still wanted to be in her life ecspecially if we might be sisters one day, and she was starting to realize that was ok.

So I decided that I was getting to come home almost 2 weeks early, an extra 1/2 day wouldn't hurt me. So I called emily, they said great come on.. And I got there right after 2 am. Her, her husband Matt, and myself talked until 5 and we went to bed.. I could not sleep.. I don't know if it was the massive amounts of coffee I had drank around 8pm before I decided to stop, or being anxious to get home.. but I only got abot 2 hours of sleep. So I headed out on Tuesday around 9am their time, 10 ours.

Between my gps taking me a way I didn't want to go, my pit stops, and getting a little lost the 6 hours it should've taken me to get home turned into 7 1/2, and I arrived home about 5:30 pm. Thomas' dad stayed at his girlfriends so we could have some alone time... My dogs freaked out.. and Thomas' and I made very good use of that alone time. (Hey, we live together.. None of that's really a secret). Kona still hasn't quite stopped staring at me, Scarlet's been more cuddly and lovey then she ever was before I left, and after the growth that thomas and I's relationship went through while I was gone it's even more amazing to be here with him and spend time with him... When he asked me while he was holding me in his arms if I was glad to be home... I started to cry. I never really had ever felt so happy I cried like that before, but words to not express how glad I am to be back in his arms. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't take anything back, I wouldn't give anything for that time I spent with my grandmother.. we have this new amazing, stronger relationship now.. And so do Thomas' and I. I knew that break would either make us stronger or break us, and I am so glad it was the better of the two options. Taking all of the physical out of our relationship (not just the sex part, but holding hands, kissing, sleeping together, seeing each other in person.. just being able to sit next to each other, touch each other) and push all the communication and emotional to the front lines.. has worked absolute wonders for us. Because that was our biggest struggle.. communication and emotions, and it really helped us work on them. We're definitely not perfect at it yet, but we're so much better. So I'm grateful for the time, and boy has it made my dogs, and my boyfriend appreciate me that much more...

A Different Kind of Family.

Dictionary.com defines family in many different ways:

fam·i·ly

  [fam-uh-lee, fam-lee] noun, adjective
noun
1.
a.
a basic social unit consisting of parents and theirchildren, considered as a group, whether dwellingtogether or not: the traditional family.
b.
a social unit consisting of one or more adultstogether with the children they care for: a single-parent family.
2.
the children of one person or one couple collectively:We want a large family.
3.
the spouse and children of one person: We're taking thefamily on vacation next week.
4.
any group of persons closely related by blood, asparents, children, uncles, aunts, and cousins: to marryinto a socially prominent family.
5.
all those persons considered as descendants of acommon progenitor.

My Definition of Family Changed 2 weeks ago. My parents never kept it a secret that my dad wasn't my biological father. But until I was 10, I didn't know who that man was.. and for alot of reasons, not all my own I never really asked too many questions. I found out then that his name is Michael Lesenne. But I put it to the back of my mind until my mom gave me all my important papers from the house, including letters from him. I got curious and went home, found him online in about an hour. I didn't write him because I knew that even though it felt like it wasn't something I needed having him in my life, if I got rejected by him it wouldn't be a hurt that would stick around. But a couple weeks ago my mom texted me that she sent me an email and not to be mad at me. Those emails contained emails back and fourth between her and my biological father, Michael over the past couple days. And as I read the latest one he just wrote I cried, I cried because it was words I never thought I wanted to see or needed to see is the better words to say. That he had been looking for me.. So I wrote him an email, he wrote me back with his phone number and over the past couple weeks we've talked on the phone, I introduced him to skyping, and we've texted. I not only have a second father, but I have two little siblings.. Luke who's five, and Lily who's almost two, a whole load of aunts and uncles, and a realization that I did want this, and just because I have him in my life doesn't mean i'm replacing my dad, the man who raised me and cared for me these past 23 years, is there any rule book that says I can only have one dad? Because I'd sure not be the only kid out there breaking it. There's so many kinds of families now adays, kids have multiple parents because parents get divorced when their young and remarry, kids with two dads, or two moms, kids with grandparents or aunts and uncles raising them. Didn't you ever read the babysitter's club? Kristy.. had a different kind of family.. So as webster adds on more definitions of family to change with the times, I've just added on another one to my own dictionary. And a great, wonderful, new family to get to know. So here's to something else that's going to make 2012 the best year... I can possibly make it.

Lists, Buckets, Heaven, Goals, Dreams.. What Else?

Shannon Reilly-Roger's Bucket List

* Things To Do * Places to Visit/See * Events to Take Place In * Objects/Things to Find *
I found a book titled, “101 Things you Should do Before Going to Heaven”, bookmarked to #46 in my Grandpa's bedroom. So I've decided to add most of the goals in this book to my bucket list, and update it while i'm at it. I feel that, that bucket list written when I was 19 should be updated now that i'm more of an adult. I'm not doing everything from the book but I'd say about 75% of it.
(If there is a ** Next to the Goal it means it's from the book lisited above, Some of them may sound strange but they have Christian Lessons to help in your Walk with God, but also to help you grow up a little too, become a better person. So even if you're not a believer, get the book. Read the Lessons behind each goal. Who knows you may grow a little as a person, and even become a believer along the way. If theres a (#) beside it, it means it could coincide with another goal if I am in the right place, or choose it to.)
"Life on Earth is an ADVENTURE --- DONT MISS IT!!! One day your soul will leave your earthly body and your eternal life will began. For the Christian, what a wonderful day that will be! Until then.. ask yourself: are you making the most of your life here on Earth, savoring each moment of beauty, joy, and love? "
